The network started by Sr. Annah Nyadombo a Carmelite Sister in Zimbabwe of the Congregation of the Handmaids of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel (HOLMC) in 2016. She raised awareness of Talitha Kum Network to different Congregations and started mobilizing and organizing workshops in Zimbabwe, regarding the work of the Talitha Kum International and encouraged religious to join the Network. Thus, a network of Religious life, Clergy and Lay committed to work towards eliminating trafficking in persons and its causes was formed to carry forward the values, promote through collaborations and partnerships with different organizations, groups and individuals in and around Zimbabawe.
Objectives of the Network are to create public awareness about human trafficking and its possible dangers through use of media, dissemination of information to marginalized communities, empower the marginalized societies and vulnerable people who are prone to human trafficking, influence policy makers to enforce the implementation of national plan of action on human trafficking, engage in continuous training and research on the current situation on human trafficking issues, empower survivors in small self help projects that help them to be economically independent, enhance formation of young people, religious people, communities and families, engage primary, secondary and tertiary institutions to become change agents of their situation in Zimbabwe and to strengthen local, regional and international networks of Talitha Kum.
